Chapter 4- Prayer

I grew up saying my prayers each night. This was something that was imbedded in me as a child. I remember praying for every cousin, aunt, uncle, grandparent, animal, friend of the family, and many more each night!! Our family prayed before each meal and still do! I am so lucky to have been brought up in such a wonderful family who's family morals and character were imbedded in our church values. My first memories of church started in Kindergarten at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic School in Alexandrea, LA.  When we moved to Coppell, I remember Religious Ed classes at St. Ann's each Wednesday night. Each week, Melissa, Lynley, and I sat through our RE classes and on Sunday's we headed to church as a family.

Isn't it funny how routine our lives are? We live such structured lives. I LOVE structure- so this is right up my ally! Although- I don't feel and believe that prayer is meant to be structured. Why does it need to be? Growing up we said the same prayer before each meal-"Bless us, O Lord! and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen" I love this prayer, as it was a tradition that my family has always used to bless the food we were about to eat. But, why does it have to be that prayer. Recently, I have taken prayer into a new light. I pray often! I pray not because I need to. I pray to be heard. To pray is to say that there is more than I can see, and more than I can do.  Prayers heal. I am looking forward to see what prayer can do for Michael and Me!
